While developing a gas burner the engineers have to keep many design functions in mind. Probably the two most important are stabile and environmentally friendly operation. With other words the flame stability and low NOx operation. Data can be obtained of both objectives by the simulation of the mixing of earth gas and air used in the burner.
It is really hard to examine a burner in operation. The CFD analysis enables us to look into the burner, cut it in order to learn as much as possible about the effect of geometry and other parameter changes on performance.
In this simulation series with several gas burner types we analysed the mixing procedure of air and earth gas inside and near the burner without simulating the flames and chemical reactions to keep things fast and simple. The video below shows how it is done in CFdesign.
