FREE WATER SURFACE IN A TURBO MIXER

I had the chance some weeks ago to spend a day at one of our SC/Tetra users, where the main subject was a small mixer in their lab. On that day we created a simulation to model...

PAZFLOR PROJECT: URGENT + TOP SECRET

Mid July 2008. The sun sends 1 kilowatt energy to every square meter of the land. The heat is horrible. Computers blow heat into the office too, the air conditioner can hardly cope with the load. The...

HEAT RECOVERY STEAM GENERATOR (HRSG)

I've been planning to come up with this application for some time now. First because it's a very nice example of a heat exchanger and the method is generally applicable to almost any machine with heat exchange...

FLUE GAS COOLER SIMULATION PART 2.

I finally finished the application example of the flue gas cooler tower. Here is the second part of the story with a video summary.

Previously I talked about the cooling tower of a waste...

FLUE GAS COOLING WITH WATER SPRAY

This application example is interesting in terms of environmental protection although it was really exciting to simulate with a CFD simulation. There is a waste burner works in Hungary where water vapor is used to cool the...

WATER HAMMER: PRESSURE WAVES IN PIPES

This information video shows the CFD simulation of an interesting physical phenomenon: the pressure wave propagation in pipes or with other words the water hammer effect. There are two examples showed in the video. The first is...

GAS BURNER SIMULATION WITH VIDEO

While developing a gas burner the engineers have to keep many design functions in mind. Probably the two most important are stabile and environmentally friendly operation. With other words the flame stability and low NOx operation. Data...

DO YOU KNOW HOW A WATER METER LOOKS IN THE INSIDE?

Water meters are very nice challenges as far as CFD simulations are concerned. I could not imagine until I saw myself: in the very detailed geometry there are small gaps, nozzles, guide vanes that control the water...

ANALYSIS OF A PNEUMATIC CHECK VALVE

The practical view of CFD problems that differentiates CFD Engineering from the others can be successfully used in the design process of pneumatic devices. This was proved by one of our consulting jobs completed some weeks ago...

CFDESIGN FOR THE OIL INDUSTRY

Hoses made of nanocomposite materials for the oil industry are exposed to special loads. The specialty lies in the liquid delivered (the oil contains for example sand) and in the velocity of flow.

The...

ANALYSIS OF A MOBILE GAS COMPRESSOR

One of our customers requested a simulation on a future product working in explosive environment, to figure out flow conditions around the product. However this product is a bit special in this category because it is a...

SIMULATION OF EXPLOSIONS

In case of a traditionally complicated physical phenomenon like an explosion the Upfront way of looking at things can also be used.

Simulation of explosions is interesting on many fields. Apart from defense and...

TUNNEL KILN CAPACITY INCREASE WITH CFDESIGN

Our previous article in which we highlighted the advantages of the Motion module of CFdesign was about using the Upfront CFD tool for the simulation of a tunnel kiln. Now it is time to add some more...

COMPUTATIONAL WIND TUNNEL

Wind tunnels are one of the oldest measuring and testing equipment for analysing fluid flows around solid bodies. Thank to modern numerical simulation techniques besides the real machine a computer can be used as a wind tunnel...

"During our cooperation we received the results fast, we analyzed those together with Robert and so decided on the geometry of the product. The latter tests of the analyzed pneumatic distributor confirmed the volume flow results of the fluid flow simulations. Using the simulations we avoided the production and testing of 2-3 prototypes together with reducing many weeks of experimenting to some days.

Krisztián Szabó, head of product development, FESTO-AM Manufacturing Ltd.

"...I am confident that while redesigning the flue gas cooling tower, with the simulations we successfully avoided versions and trials we would surely have done without using it.
